The largest professional association representing practitioners of business-to-business marketing :The Earliest Civilised SocietiesIf you have ever been lucky enough to spend a couple of weeks in Rome apartments you would have been provided with a clear insight into how this ancient civilisation really was way ahead of everyone else in the world at this time. Two thousand years ago, anyone living in the British Isles would have been akin to cave dwellers, compared with the Romans. Our technological advancements would not have evolved that far from the time when the first Homo Sapiens roamed this planet. In contrast, the Romans were already millennia ahead of anyone else. Their society was like a well-oiled machine, with Rome proudly accepted as the capital of this amazing region. The most interesting features of this society, at that time, was the organisation that was displayed through their political, legislative and judicial systems. In fact, they had created models that are still practiced in a number of countries today; take the US Senate as a good example here. You could never say that their systems were entirely fair within their society, nevertheless, they were a massive step in the right direction. Corruption was rife at this time and it would seem that our modern day political parties have scarcely moved on from this. Modern day Rome still allows us to catch a glimpse into how this intelligent society lived. Indeed, there is nowhere else on this planet that could ever compete with how advanced this society was for its age. |
